Come on a weekend away with Dan the Man and me! ? I can’t promise that it’ll be fun, but I CAN promise that there will be lots of RnR vocabulary! ? Listen to how Dan made me SICK ?, constant arguing ? and even an exclusive interview with Mrs. Dan the Man! ?
Here is today’s RnR vocabulary:
This is an off the cuff episode
I’m exhausted after spending 2 days with you
It was pissing down with rain when I arrived
Everyone had coats on at the football but we were freezing our bollocks off
The football was crap
Some French man was trying to rip me off
What did you expect other than a mattress on the floor and a comfy DUVET?
Dan is always a bit grumpy in the morning
I thought you said you weren’t going to butt in?
I would just like Dea to back me up here… did Dan cry when we made him go to yoga?
You told me it was a 2 minute walk and it was a 7 minute walk so I was already pissed off
Dan had never been beaten in this game, then I rocked up and beat him
….just keep calm and KEEP ON ROCKIN’ baby ✌️
Instead of some grammar, I thought I would give you the explanation behind the sexy idiom “off the cuff”, as if you know the history it may help you remember it!
Apparently, in the 1930s America actors would often write lines on their cuffs (the ‘cuff’ is THIS part of shirt) instead of learning their lines. If they were NOT prepared and therefore reading lines ‘off the cuff’ there were ‘speaking off the cuff’, ie. without preparation.
This idiom has stuck and we now use it for anything you do without preparation…. like this podcast that was off the cuff
