E119: Black Friday Bedlam 🤪

LISTEN to the podcast. READ the RnR Grammar. DO the quiz and…. ROCK ON!

Black Friday can now consider itself ‘mainstream’ now that there is a show about it on RnR English! 😁 We speak about seeing DREAMS more clearly 💤, VOMIT 🤢, buying clothes before 2001 👚 – microphones are very much switched ON 🎙️, so take a seat, put some headphones on and just keeeeeep on ROCKin’! 👊

The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:

  • Why don’t you fill us in Comer?
  • People will punch each other for a blender
  • I’m going to say no this time, mix it up
  • We’ve covered this before, let’s not rake up old graves
  • Christ, it’d be bedlam!
  • They camp so they can get there first thing
  • During the night I chucked up all over Comer
  • 4 star hotel you’re thinking, “this shithole
  • Someone throws up on your face
  • As you touched upon earlier about violence
  • Cutting in line, jump the queue
  • Generally used to help women not get raped
  • One of my friends at university had a problem with sweating
  • What a great deed you did
  • That’s only a few years ago in my book
  • She bought you a new one, because you’d worn the other one out

RnR Grammar

In today’s show, Corporal Comer said:

“Your mum bought you a new jumper because you’d worn the other one out”

All very normal, but when you listened to that on the podcast, did you noticed the ‘d? Many people miss this and it is a very difficult thing to hear, but the best way to do so is to TRAIN your ear by NOTICING it!

So start listening more closely when someone says “you’d” “I’d” “she’d” and that will enable you to start USING it more and sounding more fluent! 👊

When you have listened to the podcast and read the above, then you’re ready for the quiz below! 👊

Hopefully I’ll get time to do this before the day is finished!
