Episode 93 – The Royals Are Rather Strange 😕

LISTEN to the podcast. READ the RnR Grammar. DO the quiz and…. ROCK ON!

Some people (like me) may not agree with The Royal Family, but it’s always great to talk about them! 😀 We talk about the strage things they do, like bringing their own CUTLERY 🍴, the strange way they eat dinner and why The Queen is so tight 🙊! Loads of RnR Grammar, loads of RnR Vocab and loads of ROCKin’! 👊

The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:

  • I don’t give a shit
  • I think it doesn’t clash with the FA Cup Final, is that right?
  • Apparently it would be too strenuous to wave like this
  • I’ve really nailed The Queen’s wave there I think
  • Still getting to grips with this whole podcast thing
  • Maybe a quick peck on the cheek
  • Do you tongue each other?
  • Play tonsil tennis
  • Guests have to bring their own food and cutlery to eat on
  • She’s so tight!
  • You go round to your Nan’s house and you’re expected to bow
  • Yea, I’d imagine it’s pretty formal round at the queen’s gaff
  • If she’s staying up one night…
  • Just go to bed, I’m knackered!
  • Presumably it’s at least Boxing Day
  • That’s the motto
  • They need to be respectful to someone of a higher rank
  • Another rule that they have to adhere to is….
  • Tucking into your Christmas dinner, then it’s gone!
  • Gutted!
  • Prince Charles is walking her down the aisle

RnR Grammar

Just a small thing about the difference between American English and British English, as we had the word ‘Nan’ today, which is VERY common in Britain to say ‘Grandmother’. Obviously sometimes the words change, but the main thing that confuses people is the spelling – is it ‘oganise’ or ‘organize’, ‘colour’ or ‘color’?

The first thing to say is that they are BOTH correct! Just make sure that you are consistent in your spelling, especially if you are writing something formal – so if you write ‘organize’ (the American version) then you MUST write ‘color’ – which is also the American version. If you start changing them, it looks a bit strange.

It’s not a huge problem, but it’s a problem, so better to be safe than sorry! 👊

When you have listened to the podcast and read the above, then you’re ready for the quiz below! 👊

Quiz is coming later today… sorry for the delay!
