It’s Russian Language Day soon so we thought “let’s talk abotu Russia!” So that’s what we do, but we also find time to talk about going to prison for some ketchup, poetry and of… a nice argument! It’s just a standard day at the office at RnR English so keeeeeeep on ROCKin’ baby!ย ๐Ÿ‘Š

The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:

  • I lose track (of how many weeks itโ€™s been)
  • I went to an open mic night
  • The whole event got hijacked by poets
  • I always hear Italian people moaning about Italy
  • It kind of levels out then (moaning about England and France)
  • Iโ€™m a bit of a fussy eater
  • Worked in the warehouse a bit of a geezer
  • Lovely jubbly (the tea)
  • Did you get away with it? (the book)
  • Yea, the bouncer didnโ€™t notice
  • That is hardcore
  • If anyone thinks โ€˜oh heโ€™s just making this upโ€™
  • NYE is a bigger deal than Christmas
  • If everyone is shitfaced, itโ€™s just gonna be a nightmare
  • They always dress to impress
  • I drove round to my mumโ€™s once in a dressing gown

RnR Grammar

At some point in the podcast (I can’t remember which and I don’t want to listen to it again! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), I said something like:

“I don’t think anyone has got their money”

Notice here how the word ‘anyone’ makes us use the THIRD person (has) but then we say THEIR money (plural).

Why is this?!

The reason is so that we AVOID being sexist and DON’T say something like ‘his’, as that means we’re only speaking about men. Another option would to say ‘I don’t think anyone has got his / her money’, but that’s a lot to say! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi, Martin! It’s a funny thing that two days ago I heard that British people used to drink beer and other alcohol because the water was polluted. Is that true?) Black bread is just a rye bread with some wheat. But it really tastes different. It was nice to listen to this episode! I heard about your podcast in Luke’s English Podcast and now I’m a regular listener. I like your format very much! You’re doing a great job! Thanks!

Haha… it might be true! I’m not so sure. Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it. Keep on listening and keep on rockin’! ๐Ÿ˜‰
