It’s Russian Language Day soon so we thought “let’s talk abotu Russia!” So that’s what we do, but we also find time to talk about going to prison for some ketchup, poetry and of… a nice argument! It’s just a standard day at the office at RnR English so keeeeeeep on ROCKin’ baby! 👊
The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:
At some point in the podcast (I can’t remember which and I don’t want to listen to it again! 😉 ), I said something like:
“I don’t think anyone has got their money”
Notice here how the word ‘anyone’ makes us use the THIRD person (has) but then we say THEIR money (plural).
Why is this?!
The reason is so that we AVOID being sexist and DON’T say something like ‘his’, as that means we’re only speaking about men. Another option would to say ‘I don’t think anyone has got his / her money’, but that’s a lot to say! 😉
