E147 – A Corporal Stag Do

LISTEN to the podcast. READ the RnR Grammar. LEARN the vocab and…. ROCK ON!

Someone else on the RnR English Team is getting married… and very soon! Before the big day though is the STAG DO and that’s exactly what we speak about today!

The RnR vocab that you will learn in today’s show:

  • I’m not that bothered
  • To be there with a face like a slapped arse
  • Someone’s dropped out of the stag do – drop out of courses
  • We went quad biking
  • You must have drowned in that
  • If you do, you have to down your drink
  • If anything, it’s the polar opposite (of the groom being worshipped)
  • They let you off as they didn’t want to hear you whinging
  • The one time no-one gives you gyp for not eating
  • I’m happy to go along with what other people want to do
  • They hit me with a plank of wood
  • He’s put it more succinctly that me
  • It’ll be nice and tame

RnR Grammar

In today’s when I told Corporal Comer that apparently the groom should be ‘worshipped’ he said:

“I don’t think that’s the case, if anything, it’s the polar opposite”

Now this isn’t a grammar thing, but notice that ‘if anything’.. .WOW! Now that’s a real SEXY connecting word – use it! 😉

Hi Martin, it seems that my previous comment didn’t get published.. I wrote it on the app but apparently it didn’t work.
Anyway.. I will try again here.
I love rock & roll and I’m learning English to go study in Finland (I know it’s a little bit confusing but trust me, I need it.. it’s easier than Finnish). I discovered your podcast recently and it’s a perfect fit for me: funny and instructive at the same time! I live in southern Switzerland and I’m a native Italian speaker, so.. continua così! (E un salutone a Dan the man, Clarification Charlie and boom boom cannon.. and all the others!)

Thanks Nico! iTunes can be a bit of a b@stard sometimes, but if you could write it on the Facebook page under the section ‘review’ that would be fantastic! Grazie ancora! 🙂
